Day by day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo: Arrival at the Ivato International airport. Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Then city tour of the city of thousand. Overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 2: Antananarivo – Antsirabe: We head south to Antsirabe, crossing highland with rice paddies and small traditional red clay houses. City tour by rickshaw in Antsirabe and visit of some stone cutter that make the region famous. A walk around Andraikiba lake is also possible. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 3: Antsirabe – Ranomafana: A long day drive to Ranomafana. Stop in Ambositra, renowned to its crafts. Woodcrafting knowledge of the Zafimaniry is classified by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage of Humanity. Continuation to Ranomafana. Overnight at your hotel

Day 4: Ranomafana: Full day hiking at the dense rainforest of Ranomafana with rangers to discover multitude and rich wildlife: 11 species of lemur including the Golden bamboo lemur, discovered in 1986. More than 100 species of birds, many reptiles, insects and butterflies. Waterfalls, streams and rugged hills make this a unique natural park. The endemicity of its fauna and flora attracts some researchers like Valbio research center. Overnight at your hotel

Day 5: Ranomafana – Ranohira: Early departure to join Ranohira, crossing noble vineyard and rural landscapes. Stop at Ambalavao, nestled at the bottom of mountainous and the country’s largest zebu market, held each Thursday. It is also famous for its Antaimoro paper factory, a local paper made from macerated, worked and decorated papyrus. Then visit of Anja reserve, the most visited community managed forest and ecotourist in Madagascar. Here we have an opportunity to see an important ring-tailed lemurs colony in a splendid landscape. We also allow us to discover numerous chameleons and reptiles. Continuation to Ranohira, crossing the Horombe plateau. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 6: Ranohira: Full day at Isalo National Park. Hiking in one of the most beautiful Malagasy landscapes. Plausible witness of continental drift. This rocky valley dated Jurassic gorges carved by generations by deep canyons, such as the Maki canyon and Mice canyon, forming strange environments. Isalo National Park is a world heritage classified park. A totality of endemic flora especially the “Pachypodium” and Aloe shares the land with some species of lemurs like lemur fulvus, Propitheque and Verreaux, reptiles, chameleons, geckos and variety of insects. The park also contains numerous sacred sites of Bar a tribe who bury their dead in caves of the canyon. At the end of the afternoon, you can admire a beautiful sunset at the window of Isalo. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 7: Ranohira – Toliara – Ifaty: Last straight line of the National 7. Passing through the sapphire villages along typical landscape of the south: bush savanna, arid vegetation, baobabs and spiny forest. We can see different Aloalo forms, these funeral stems wooden artistically carved, adorn the Mahafaly and Antandroy sepulture, covered by garish paintings. Arrival in Toliara around noon. Visit of the botanical garden of Antsokay arboretum in the afternoon. Transfer to Ifaty Overnight at your hotel.

Day 8: Ifaty: Early departure to Reniala reserve to see birds, especially long-tailed ground roller and sub-desert mesite in the botanical trail mainly composed of spiny forest. Back to the hotel. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 9: Ifaty – Toliara – Antananarivo: Transfer to Toliara airport and fly to Antananarivo. Arrival in the capital and transfer to your hotel.

Day 10: Antananarivo Depending on your schedule flight, transfer to the airport.
